Our Story

We were founded in 2011 as a response to what our CEO and co-founder Ken Davenport flagged as a fundamental challenge for nonprofits: how to afford quality accounting so that they could better run their organizations.

By hiring good accountants on an outsourced basis, the belief was that we could provide strong operational support at an affordable cost, while freeing the nonprofit to focus on what they do best: serving the community. And Mission Edge was born!

Our core accounting practice soon evolved to include Human Resources support and Fiscal Sponsorship. Since then, we have added philanthropically supported programming in the Impact Lab that helps small business owners who identify as low-to-moderate income earners or people of color grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Our growth trajectory is in total alignment with what we try to show our clients: that financial sustainability is essential, and that experimentation and growth to serve the community is a journey worth taking.
