Are You a San Diego Business Owner? Our Next Two Cohorts Are for YOU.

Business owners in San Diego often struggle to pay themselves a living wage, forcing them into the hard choice of closing their business or leaving San Diego for a more affordable city.

We believe that if people can start and maintain financially sustainable businesses, they can climb out of the low-to-moderate income tax bracket and into a more prosperous and financially stable lifestyle here in San Diego.

That’s why our next two Impact Lab cohorts (August through November and February through April) will be specifically designed to help business owners *from within San Diego City Limits.*

Are you a San Diego business owner feeling skeptical about free programs that promise business growth?

You're not alone. So many entrepreneurs worry about the effectiveness of free programs, and it’s wise of you to wonder if there’s a catch. (That’s why we wrote this blog to clear up any questions you have)!

The Impact Lab is paid for in part through a partnership with the City of San Diego to help bolster economic growth.

Since partnering with the city in 2019, we have served 70 low to moderate income entrepreneurs owners to empower them to build a strong business foundation by teaching them the fundamentals of small business finance, so they make objective financial decisions based on real data, therefore increasing their likelihood of staying in business and earning a sustainable living.

We do this by teaching small business owners how to understand objective financial data, including their costs, expenses, pricing structure, and profit margins.

Then we turn them into a working model that depicts a path forward to financial stability and making informed business decisions to ensure on-going success. These are the eye-opening insights and tools that local small business owners need to stabilize and grow.

For example…

  • Vanessa worked with our finance experts to complete a revenue forecast for her business and worked on strategies for capacity management, compensation, and supplier-related issues.

  • Our finance expert Carolynn helped business owner Alicia set up QuickBooks and several other financial resources to help her take better ownership over her business’ financial decisions.
